I have just returned from a fabulous week at Sandals Montego Bay in Jamaica. From a welcoming check in at the Airport, where Sandals have their own lounge for you to wait for your transfer, to a relaxing check out in the Hotels own lounge, I experienced friendly, professional Staff throughout, everyone was exceptional!
The resort is very close to the Airport and there were Airplanes taking off above us daily, but the noise wasn’t a problem as it was over in seconds! It was also quite amusing to see the Sandals Staff wave at every Airplane that flew out!
Our room was a deluxe seaside garden view room with a big king size bed ample wardrobes, and chest of drawers, a well stocked fridge, tea & coffee making pot, TV, alarm clock and phone and a free safety deposit box. The Bathroom was well stocked with Red Spa soap, shampoo, conditioner and even aloe vera, which turned out very useful after a day in the Caribbean sun! The room was one of the basic ones but was still more than I expected. Depending on your budget you can choose a whole array of rooms/suites to suit you; you can even have your own Butler on tap! From what I could see they were exceptional in their jobs and were more like friends to their clients.
Montego Bay is the largest resort in Jamaica with the largest private white sand beach and crystal clear water. The Ultra All Inclusive does actually mean that! With plenty of free Watersports to hand, which you can use as often as you like, you just book it in at the Beach hut, put on a Life jacket/vest and off you go! Unless like me you prefer to have instruction from one of the Sandals Beach team, who are always happy to show you the ropes. Sandals even have there speed boat, scuba diving boat and Catamaran at your disposal! The beach itself is full on sunbeds, Beach Cabanas which you can reserve for a special treat. There is a quiet pool with a lazy river and of course the swim up bar and livelier activity pools, for pool games with the entertainment teams. The Jacuzzi I used was the hottest I have ever experienced anywhere!
There were plenty of good excursions to be had at the Islands Routes desk, I went on to Dunns River Falls and did the climb! Again the trip was well planned and we were advised to take water shoes which proved invaluable, I bought these in the well stocked shop in the resort before we went.
Food, where do I start – from the Beach Café serving pizzas, burgers, salads, jacket potatoes with any toppings you like – to the gourmet Restaurants which are pre-bookable, you can choose from Italian, Japanese, Caribbean, even an English Pub! Breakfast in the Bayside either inside or outside on the large decking was amazing and my favourite! Whatever you want its there and you don’t have to dress formerly if you don’t want to. So long as you are smart casual, that’s fine, but it was a good excuse to dress up and feel great!
The Red Spa I looked around had a completely chilled out feeling, where you could get any treatment you liked even a hairdresser, great if you are getting married there! or just a treat.
Evening entertainment was very good, the teams again were very professional with a good mix of entertainment and some local entertainers as well. There is also a late night disco, which I never heard!
If you want premium brand drinks, excellent choice of 5* dining, comfy lounge sofas and beds overlooking the beach then Sandals ticks all the boxes! You can see why a Sandals holiday is excellent value for money. I hope to return one day!!
